Following
the terrorist attacks of 9/11, Lockheed Martin Global Telecommunications needed a new communications
tool that would reduce the need for travel, reach every employee at their desk, and replace
costly videoconferencing sessions.
Members of the WebQuarter team designed the LMGT-TV interface so that users would have instant understanding of the screen, using familiar Web "point and click" navigation.
The project was considered a remarkable success: users had a new communication tool that was simple to use, and management's concerns over the cost of training and support were allayed through the use of efficient GUI design. This effective GUI has gone on to be adapted for potential commercial uses as well, including a Golf Training program.
